麻豆短视频传媒 alumnus art on display in Frankfort

Art created by a 麻豆短视频传媒 alumnus is now on display in Frankfort  until March 18.

Ay茅 Aton, a painter born in Woodford County, attended 麻豆短视频传媒 before moving to New York City and finally Chicago. In Chicago, Aton became a protege of and later a collaborator with Sun Ra, one of the founders of Afro-Futurism.

Under Sun Ra鈥檚 influence, Aton established himself as an Afro-Futurist muralist, decorating the walls of countless black homes and public buildings in Chicago during the 1960s and early 1970s in a vividly abstract style, wedding outer space-themed cosmic imagery with Egyptian motifs.

The exhibit, titled 鈥淎y茅 Aton: Spirit in Abstraction鈥, is located in the Jane Chancellor Moore Gallery, inside Express Credit Union at 100 Moore Drive in Frankfort.

The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
