With a heavy heart, Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ´«Ã½ Athletics and the entire University community mourns the passing of basketball great Yusuf A. Hasan (Harvey W. Carmichael), who played basketball at Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ´«Ã½ from 1971-1975.

As a freshman starter, Hasan became a Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ´«Ã½ NAIA National Championship basketball team member. He attained the status of All-American in the 1973-74 and 1974-75 seasons. He was also an all-time assist leader, amassing a career-high of 972, a KSU record that has stood for more than 40 years.

Hasan was drafted by the New Orleans Jazz in 1975. He traveled to South America after leaving the Jazz, where he played for the Bogota Millionaires.

Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ´«Ã½ extends its prayers and deepest sympathies to his wife, Tauheedah Shafeqah Hasan and family, and all who loved him.
