A two-time Emmy-nominated actress and screenwriter will headline 麻豆短视频传媒鈥檚 homage to women鈥檚 achievements and impact on history during its 2021 Women鈥檚 History Month Assembly on March 18 at 11 a.m. The public can view this event on Zoom using meeting ID 980 1850 3350 and passcode 391226.  

Kelsey Scott, best known for her role as Anne Northup in the Oscar-winning 鈥12 Years a Slave鈥 and as Wes Gibbins鈥 mother, Rose, on 鈥淗ow to Get Away With Murder,鈥 is the featured speaker. 

Scott鈥檚 credits also include 鈥淚nsecure,鈥 鈥淣CIS,鈥 鈥淒ynasty鈥 and 鈥淭rue Detective鈥. Scott is also a Daytime Emmy nominee for her guest star role on 鈥淕iants鈥 and a Primetime Emmy nominee for her leading role on 鈥淔ear the Walking Dead: Passage.鈥 

Scott is a product of an HBCU, earning her bachelor鈥檚 degree in broadcast journalism from Florida A&M University. Scott earned an MFA in film from Florida State University. 

Multi-talented, Scott鈥檚 screenwriting career began with the Sony Pictures thrillers 鈥淢otives.鈥 Scott wrote the film鈥檚 sequel and continues to write commissioned scripts, in addition to shepherding original projects. Scott spearheaded the first screenwriting curriculum at Golden West College and later returned to Florida State as a visiting filmmaker in residence. 

Scott鈥檚 service includes serving as a celebrity ambassador for 鈥淜ids in the Spotlight,鈥 a non-profit that enlists professional filmmakers to train foster care youth to create, write, cast and star in their own short films. Scott also works with 鈥淲riteGirl,鈥 a non-profit that matches professional women writers with teenage girls who would not otherwise have access to creative mentors. 

Scott is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, Actors鈥 Equity Association, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
