Faculty, Staff, Students, Alumni:
As I woke up this morning to hear the devastating news from Orlando, Florida, about the horrific shooting at a nightclub frequented by members of the LGBT community, my heart immediately felt sorrow and pain for the families and loved ones of the victims. The Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ´«Ã½ community joins the rest of the country as we grieve for the victims of this tragic and senseless act of violence.
Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ´«Ã½ is proud to be the most diverse college in the Commonwealth. We are a strong campus because of the contributions of all of our students, faculty, staff and alumni.
KSU remains committed to its stance as a diverse and inclusive university that respects and honors all people no matter what their age, race, gender, creed, culture, religion or sexual orientation.
Counseling services will be offered through Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ´«Ã½â€™s OUTlet Center that serves the LBGT community.
Our flag will be flown at half-staff and Â鶹¶ÌÊÓƵ´«Ã½ will hold a moment of silence at 2:02 p.m. Monday to honor the memory of those murdered or injured during the siege that began at 2:02 a.m. Sunday.
In sadness and support,
Aaron Thompson, Ph.D.
Interim President
